Motorcyclist Dies in Accident With Big Rig

On January 30, 2017, a motorcyclist lost his life after colliding with a big rig. Although full details have not yet been released, investigators were on the scene in Harris County, Texas and are evaluating the cause.

Here is what we know: According to deputies, a big rig driver pulled out onto the street but had to yield to traffic. At that point, the motorcyclist approached and although he hit the brakes, he still hit the middle of the trailer which was blocking the road. The rider was airlifted by Life Flight to the hospital but died that same night. This story is just one of many in which a motorcycle accident results in tragedy and also one in which a big rig causes devastation to others on the road.

In this particular case, we do not yet know who would be considered negligent as details are still pending. What we do know, however, is that the family of the decedent is going to require a powerful, yet compassionate attorney who can fight on their behalf.

Every year, thousands of motorcycle accidents occur that cause serious injuries and even death to the rider. According to many reports, vehicles making left-hand turns are the most dangerous situation for motorcyclists, which is seemingly what took place in the article discussed above.

Other common causes of motorcycle accidents include:

  • Head-on collisions
  • Lane splitting
  • Speeding
  • Alcohol use
  • Running into fixed objects
  • Road hazards
