Ikea Recalling Millions Of Furniture Products After Deaths
Well-known furniture brand Ikea recently issued a recall for millions of possibly unstable drawers and chests after receiving five fatality incidents since 1989 – including two last year – a USA Today report said.
The Ikea recall that affects approximately 27 million pieces of furniture was issued after two small children died last year in the U.S. from being pinned down by Ikea “Malm chests.” The first incident occurred in February 2014 and involved a 2-year-old boy while the second incident occurred in June 2014 and involved a 1-year-old boy. The recalled Ikea drawers and chests were also linked to at least four injuries. A free repair kit will be distributed by Ikea to owners of the recalled furniture.
